Irene de Groot is a painter & sculptor who has exhibited throughout Europe. In 1987 she began creating jewelry using vintage galalith. Galalith, a milk protien plastic was invented in the late 1800's in Austria and was produced in a rainbow of brilliant colors and marbling patterns. Once synthetic plastics were invented the production of Galalith ceased. Irene de Groot polishes, engraves, and carves this rare substance to create spectacular fantasy collars, brooches, and bracelets. All are signed Irene de Groot.

	de Groot Galalith Free Form Collar features stylized waves of galalith in marblelized grey, yellow, & cream. Clasps in the front, riveted and hinged in brass. Front motif extends 7" on this extremley comfortable necklace. Price $1750
	de Groot Red & Blue Galalith Collar A work of art as well as an item of jewelry. Base of necklace formed from two triangles of red marbleized galalith hinged at the back of the neck. This is covered with royal blue galalith cut out in geometric shapes which is riveted with brass. Hinges in front. Overall size 16" by 14". Be sure to look at the large image to see the details.
